Video SEO Insights: 3 Tips to Boost YouTube Views for Small Business

Did you know that YouTube is the second most used search engine worldwide? In fact, recent SEO news shows that it draws roughly 1 billion unique visits monthly, close to Google with 1.1 billion. In the recent year alone, it generated $4 billion in revenue, from approximately 4 billion video views per day. Yet, in spite of all these astonishing figures, only 9% of small businesses nationwide are taking advantage of YouTube.

If you are managing a small business, tapping into YouTube’s vast pool of viewers potentially spells a considerable profit. Keep in mind, however, that about 300 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute, every day. Here are some ways to make your videos rise above the clutter.

Create Your Channel

If you want to establish an air of authority and relevance for your brand, you need to make your presence more definite. First, sign up for a profile and decide on a catchy channel name (must still be in line with your brand). Then upload your logo and banner and describe your brand and the value it offers to your prospect audiences. To make it easier for your viewers to find you, create a vanity URL. You can’t create it right during the sign up, though. In order to make one, your icon and banner has to be unique and that your account should be at least 30 days old with over 500 subscribers.

Upload Quality Video

While Google uses data like back links to gauge content quality for ranking, YouTube focuses mainly on interaction indicators such as comments, thumb ratings, subscriptions, and shares. Remember, however, that although views matter a lot, it’s no excuse to resort to fake views. For your video to get noticed, make it interesting enough to watch and talk about. Long videos (minimum of 5 minutes) usually perform better. If your video needs to extend way beyond that, don’t hesitate for as long as it’s of good value. Lastly, to direct audience to your site, post your website’s links or email signature directly on the description.

Think Keywords Through

Keywords are still essential in YouTube video rankings. Use your keywords in the filename and title and ensure that the title is at least 5 words long. Meanwhile, you can include shorter keywords under channel keywords in your account information. Informational content like reviews, tutorials, how-to’s, especially the entertaining and curiosity-arousing ones, generally garner the most views. So, for instance, instead of using “dental implant” as title, craft it into something like “5 Facts You Probably Didn’t Know about Dental Implants”.

These are just some of the many ways your business can climb up the YouTube search rankings. For more video SEO insights, browse through information resources like Marketing Digest.
