iOS Leads In Enterprise App Activations Over Android in Q2 2014

Apple’s iOS has the lead over Android in the enterprise market in terms of net activations, according to Good Technology’s Q2 2014 Mobility Index Report.

While Android’s 5% point increase from Q1 to Q2 brought 32% total device activations, iOS stayed above the ranking despite a 5% decrease and coming in with 67% total device activations this quarter. Windows Phone consistently generated only 1% of activations in five previous quarters. [See Figure 1]

As seen in Figure 2 below, iOS smartphone activations remained at 51% quarter-over-quarter, but still leaving Android smartphone activations behind regardless of their 30% showing this quarter. Net activations via iOS tablets only had a slight decrease, with 16% in the second quarter.

From this study, Good Technology not only revealed the prominence of such platforms and devices, but also revealed how enterprises integrate technological advancements into their workflow for better access to business. Christy Wyatt, Chairman and CEO of Good Technology, stated in their press release:

Additionally, Good Technology did not include RIM device activations due to the fact that they do not use other apps for corporate email access aside from the Blackberry Enterprise Server. The data was obtained from Good Technology’s 5,000 customers worldwide.
