Users Can Now Place Food Delivery Orders, Schedule Doctors’ Appointments & More through Google Search

Don’t like waiting in line at your favorite local pizza parlor? Google’s got your back. Once again, the search engine giant is making great strides to further bolster its algorithm functionalities, this time, taking advantage of users’ love for convenience.

Google recently launched its new restaurant order delivery and appointment scheduling system, which enables mobile users to place food delivery orders, reserve tables, and book appointments using an online dashboard. Google will add a “Place an order” option to business search results on Google Search and Google Maps for mobile users. [See Figure 1]

Upon clicking the link, users will be asked to choose a third-party booking and delivery service among Google’s initial partner providers, namely: Seamless (@Seamless), GrubHub (@GrubHub), Eat24 (@EAT24), Delivery.com (@deliverydotcom), BeyondMenu, and MyPizza.com (@MyPizza). Users will then be directed to the business website, where they can complete their order, make reservations, or book appointments.

Google said the feature will be placed directly on Google My Business once the rollout is complete. For now, delivery and appointment booking businesses interested in partnering up with Google may fill out this form.

Google’s new restaurant order delivery and appointment booking feature will automatically be enabled for businesses with an existing relationship with its partner delivery companies. According to Google, companies interested in having this feature for their site cannot request to add a custom “Place an order” link, although they can contact Google if they want to remove or fix inaccurate site links.

This new feature by Google comes after Bing introduced its own online delivery order feature to their maps and search back in February 2015.
